Thanksgiving 2011

I know...I know...I'm long overdue for my Thanksgiving post. I believe the whirlwind of holiday activities has taken over my schedule. I'm happy to say that I have some time to sit down and tell you a little about my Thanksgiving with family. Every year my brother and his wife host Thanksgiving lunch...for those of us who can come for lunch, come later for dessert/dinner.
Do these look familiar? Thanksgiving Day Name Place Cards Tashia and I cut
out all the name place cards. We used a gold glitter pen on the squirrels for the
names and a brown glitter pen on the acorns. I didn't use the eyes for the acorns
because I wrote the names there instead. We used brown glitter paper for the tops
of the acorns. I think they turned out really really adorable.

My brother, Chip, cutting the turkey.
Our hosts, Chip & Charlene. Thank you!!!!
 The Thanksgiving table =)
My sister, Sherri Lin, and her daughter, Darian.
 Sherri Lin with our parents.
Charlene's parents, uncle, and my sister, Martha.
My four nephews: Brendon, Hunter, Trey, William.
 Chaos after prayer...
 Every man for himself!!!! =P
We don't pass the rolls...we throw them! =) Have you ever been to Lambert's Cafe? You'll have to visit them if you're ever in Missouri or Alabama. =) After lunch we always go around the table and everyone shares what they're thankful for. It always is such a blessing...and it usually leaves everyone in tears. It's become everyone's most treasured time of Thanksgiving. We usually end with  my parents and Charlene's parents telling stories of their childhood and what it was like "back in the day". I love hearing those kinds of stories. This year I actually recorded some of their stories so I could have them forever. =)
Because everyone was stuffed after lunch....dessert is usually dinner
(or the zucchini chowder I made). Brendon made this black walnut cake.
Tashia and I's pumpkin shaped chocolate cake was a hit! =)
After lunch we scope out all the good sales for black Friday. =)

My nephews organized all the flyers so we could find them easily. =)

Branson and I went to visit his parents for a bit and then we went back to my brothers house to go black Friday shopping....and to nibble on some more dessert. =) All in all it was a really nice Thanksgiving. Hope yours was filled with family, food, fun, and frugalness (that is if you went black Friday shopping)!
