DIY Easter Root Beer Floats

I made these cute little gifts before. I think I made them while I was still in High School...I graduated from High School in 2002....so, it's been awhile. I wanted to give you a tutorial for these, because they are quite easy, pretty inexpensive, and a super cute Easter gift.
What you will need:
                                          □ 1 bag of iridescent shreds
                                          □ 1 soda fountain glass
                                          □ 1 three-inch Styrofoam ball
                                          □ 2 bendy straws
                                          □ curled ribbon
                                          □ 1 bag of mini snickers
                                          □ hot glue gun
1.5-ounce bag of Iridescent shred-$1 (I used about 1/2 per glass), Coca-Cola soda fountain glass-$1, 3-pack of curled ribbons-$1, 6-pack of 3-inch Styrofoam balls-$4.47, 100-pack of straws-$1.76, 11.5-ounce bag of Snickers minis-$2.88 (I used about 15 individual pieces per cup...since I ended up making 3 Root Beer Floats total, I ended up needing another bag of candy minis)...which comes to about $3.56 to make each Easter Root Beer Float!!! Pretty inexpensive and pretty cute!!! =)
Step 1: Fill your glass up with the iridescent shreds....what I've done before is mixed in Easter colored M&Ms with the shreds to add color. I didn't do it this time, but it's an option.
Step 2: Position your straws and hot glue into place...
a little dab is all that is needed for each straw.
Step 3: The Styrofoam ball is slightly smaller then the glass's opening, but with the straws in place you can secure the Styrofoam ball into place by hot glueing your ball to the straws.
Step 4: If you have ribbon on hand, by all means use that...I however, did not have ribbon. I bought a 3-pack of gift ribbons and cut the curled parts off so I could use them (might have been slightly lazy...or efficient, however you like to look at it. =P)
Step 5: Hot glue around the top of your glass and stick your curled ribbons on.
Don't worry about how the hot glue looks right now, it will be covered by your candies.
Step 6: Glue your candies on. I start around the bottom and work my way up to the top.
Step 7: Admire your work and give away to make someone smile.
What I really love about these little gifts is that they are completely practical. The candy can still be eaten...the hot glue only melts them a little bit. All of the hot glue that was used on the glass comes off fairly easy...so whomever you are giving this gift to can still use the glass after they are finished looking at it for a while (& eating the candy off of it). =)
It actually makes me want to go make myself a "real" root beer float!! Yum!!
You could make ice cream sundaes too! I found these super cute ice cream sundae dishes from Retro Planet. I did see something like this at the Dollar Tree...so maybe you could get them there as well. Just another idea for a cute gift or even a party give-away!

Enjoy!!
