Bedroom Redo

Out of the blue my husband and I decided that we wanted a king sized bed. I started looking for the best deal and I found a king sized pillow top mattress for only $399.99 from Amazon. It's called a 'mattress in a box'. That means we would need to only purchase a platform bed so we wouldn't need to buy a box spring. Again, I started searching for the best bed that the both of us would like. I found the Lucca King Storage Platform Bed from Raymour & Flanigan.
When the UPS guy told us to be careful because the box weighted 120 lbs.!
Branson got his hand truck and was able to get it upstairs himself.
Cutting away the protective plastic...
King mattress in a box...haahaa! I think it's
so funny that our mattress was in here!
Ps. Shipping was free since it was more than a $25 purchase!
The mattress had so many bags and plastic around it!
Which I guess is a good thing...I don't want a dirty or damaged mattress.
Boo was liking the box =)
Well there is it!
It's still all vacuum sealed.
As soon as Branson cut the plastic off you could hear the air going back into the mattress. Boo was not too sure about the noise...or the mattress expanding. =) haahaa!
 Almost full sized.
The directions said to wait 4-6 hours for the mattress to reach full expansion.
Boo & I just testing it out. It is SUPER comfy!
Here is our bed! It opens up and has storage under the mattress! Awesome! I LOVE IT!!! This is our first "real" piece of furniture...basically it's the only expensive piece of furniture we actually went to the store to buy. =)
I LOVE my bedspread too! I found that on the internet too.
It's called the Echo Jaipur Comforter Set. Again, shipping was free!
I was going to buy king sized sheets off the internet, but the sheet set that matched the bedspread was $100 and I had already spent a great deal on the comforter set itself. Also the cheapest sheet set I could find was $35 not including shipping. So, I went to Ollies and found two sets of king size sheets for $20 each...they were 320 thread count, which isn't horrible.
It took me a while to find curtains because the blueish color in the bedspread was more green then blue and a lot of the curtains that I found were more blue then green. I finally found curtains at Walmart of all places...I should have just gone there first. They were $25 each because I bought the energy efficient Canopy Faux Silk Lined Curtain Panels in Seaglass Green. They match the blue in the comforter set perfectly!!
I found lamps at Home Goods for $50 each...a little more than I wanted to pay, but the glass bases matched the blue/green in the bedspread. Don't they just look lovely!?
Now all we need is some art. I asked my girlfriend, Sarah, if she would custom paint some pieces for me. If you want see what she is capable of visit her Etsy site: SarEi. Her work is amazing and I'm so excited to have some custom pieces from her!! =)

  1. I absolutely LOVE your room! I stumbled on your blog when I was looking for pictures of the comforter set, which I just purchased for my new apartment, because the colors looked a little dull on Amazon. I was super happy to see how bright they looked in your room! And I have to say that I'm in love with the bed frame! Btw, aren't mattresses in a box just the neatest things? haha I've ordered one from Amazon as well!

    1. Aww! Thanks so much!!! Isn't Amazon the best...I have to admit I went a little order happy on there. haahaa! =) I LOVE how it turned out. I get nervous sometimes ordering online when you can't touch it or see it in person, but it looks great! =) Every night when my hubby & I crawl into bed I tell him how much I love our new bed. haahaa! I'm sure he's sick of hearing it. My mom was super skeptical of the whole mattress-in-a-box thing...but I may have made her a believer! =) Thanks for reading & commenting!! =)
