California Whirlwind Vacation

Ok, so I'm really behind in my postings. We've been so busy with house projects and special events as soon as we got home from vacation....so, the things I cut out to save time are internet and tv. Anyways, I'm back up and running again. =) I promised I would post pictures from our trip. Here we go!

Rachel & Rian's Wedding
the centerpieces to the reception tables

Did I mention that Branson was the main photographer for my friend's wedding? =) Yep, this was his first wedding. He did quite well. I'm so impressed with his abilities. I also like to work tag-team with him. He and I shared the camera. =)

Rachel's little sister, Kiersten & I getting ready.

the blushing and beautiful bride =)
Rachel with her adorable nieces =)

Rachel's nephew eating Mac&Cheese on the ground! haahaa!!

The happy couple in their get-away car =)

Hearst Castle www.hearstcastle.com
We got to see the zebras that run wild!!!! We were driving when I noticed them grazing in the field and I slammed on my brakes and pulled over! I was so excited to see them!! This is my 3rd time to Hearst Castle and this is the 1st time I'm seeing the zebras they own! =) How cool is that?! This was my husband's 1st time there...He must be the lucky charm. =)

This was the outside pool. Branson got in trouble for leaning against the pillar. oopps! =)

I love him! =)

This is the inside pool. The gold tile are actually real gold plated!

After we were done at Hearst Castle we drove up Route 1 a little to see the wave gliders and the seals in the San Simeon Valley. It was beautiful! I couldn't believe how chilly it was too for being the middle of summer.

Branson & I then drove all the way down Route 1 to Long Beach....it was only supposed to be a 4 hour drive, but it ended up taking us 6-7 hours!!! I was not happy...but we finally got to our destination and we were able to meet up with some of our friends for dinner! =) And food always cheers up a person. =)
The Queen Mary www.queenmary.com
This was the main hallway. It was "grand central station" on the ship. It had all types of stores and cafes.

This was the music room.

We both totally looked like tourists. haahaa!! =)

They had so much to look at on the ship; it was overwhelming. Everything was so interesting. They have had so much history on this ship! I really loved taking all the tours that we did.

Branson & I noticed that we were married on the ships anniversary, September 26th! =)

I love this era. I totally was born in the wrong era. I wish we had more reasons to dress up these days.

They had passenger's stories all over the ship. They are really amazing.

and to think that had that many people on board and were never detected at sea! crazy nuts!

Queen Mary replica

one of the ballrooms

I stubbed my toe right as my husband snapped the picture.

We were able to stay at the Queen Mary for a night....they made all the first-class passenger rooms into hotel rooms. We were glad to see that we had a port-hole! =)

Most of everything was original to the ship in the rooms!

Branson & I took a break from the Queen Mary to be on solid land again. We drove only 5 minutes to get to Shoreline Village in Long Beach. It's a quaint shopping center with all these little stores and snack places.

These are perhaps the best idea anyone has ever had!! Churro sundae!!!!! My new LOVE!! =)
Hollywood
Our first stop with the Griffith Observatory so we could see the Hollywood Sign. www.griffithobs.org We went early in the morning so it wouldn't be so hot. There isn't a lot of shade near the Observatory. Since we're in the city more and not right next the the coast the temperature got a little steamy as the day went on.

The Hollywood Star Walk of Fame www.walkoffame.com

Grauman's Chinese Theatre. www.chinesetheatres.com You can take a tour inside...it's well worth the money. I think it was only $12. It is beautiful!

We ate at Johnny Rockets for lunch in the Kodak Theatre courtyard area. Very cool place. Tons of shopping and eateries! Loved it there. We were planning on going to tour the Kodak Theatre too but they were closed due to setting up for Cirque Du Soleil. Maybe next visit.

While we were walking down the star walk of fame there were people from the company Illy handing out free iced coffee as a promotional for their all natural coffee drink. It was actually really good. =) www.illyusa.com

Branson & I drove up to Universal Studios and we got in around 4 PM and the park closed at 8 PM that night, so we paid the extra money to get the fast pass ticket. You get to go in the front of all the lines! It was wonderful!! We got to see everything we wanted to see in that short window of time. This was the behind the scenes tour. Totally and completely awesome! We got to see a lot of the original cars from different movies and a lot of the sets that they still use today in film making. Pretty interesting stuff. =)

Dr. Seuss movie set

Horror Movie Set (I forget the name)

Waiting to get into the Shrek ride/movie

JAWS!!

The cool thing about Universal Studios is that they have the City Walk before you even enter into the park itself. So if you don't want to pay the money to get into the park you have plenty of stores and restaurants to pick from on the City Walk. It was a lot of fun.
Marilyn Monroe made completely out of Jelly Beans!

City Walk

The is the 'Front of the Line' Pass.....so worth your money!!
Visiting Friends
Meet Dane. Isn't this the cutest face you've ever seen?!!?!

I love baby hands and feet...so precious!

my favorite one

We were able to spend 4 days at my friend, Emily's house. It was so nice to do nothing all day! She treated me the one day to a pedicure!! Thanks, Emily!! I love pedicures!!! =)

Did I mention 'I love him"? =)

We were able to eat at Emily & Daniel's favorite place one night. It really is the coolest place ever!! Lucille's. She's famous for her ribs. So that's what we ordered and were they delicious!! lucillesbbq.com

What a cute family

I loved everything about this place. They even brought out the drinks in large Mason jars...I don't think I had one refill! Great food, great atmosphere...must go visit them!! =)
So that was our crazy trip in a nut shell. We had so much fun though. We would do it all over again! Do you have any road trip stories? Please do share!! =)
