Chili Cook-Off

I am the secretary for Reformers Unanimous at my church. Each year they have a chili cook-off. This was my first time ever doing one! So I researched away! =) I found three AMAZING bloggers who gave away free tutorials and free stuff that went perfect with the theme I wanted to do. I was going for a more Mexican flair. =)

The first blog, Dana Made It gives a detailed tutorial on how to sew your own crepe paper ruffle streamers...which by the way look fantastic! I did my own. I did some with four colors and some with two. Aren't they so pretty!!! LOVE THEM!!
Then next blog, Embellish Goods gives a great supply of free 'fiesta' downloads...banner, tent cards, thank you favor tags, party circles/cupcake toppers, a yard sign, and Spanish name tags!!!! I didn't need the favor tags or cupcake toppers, but the rest of it definitely came in handy! Quick tip: Laminate your banners, cupcake toppers, tent cards, etc. and reuse them for another Hispanic themed event. (name tags are not in the picture)
And last but not least....the blog, Chico and Jo was the most help! They have a complete section on 'how to host a chili cook-off'. They have downloadable spread sheets, invites, tutorials...everything you need to make your first chili cook-off a success!! You won't want to skip out on this bloggers tips and free stuff!!!
Notice the (free) banner on the right? =)
The blow-up chili peppers I found at the dollar store of all places!!!
The judges with their clipboards...I didn't have time to make the clipboards
that Chico and Jo gave a tutorial on, but regular clipboards are fine too.
My husband and my sister using a spreadsheet to figure out
who the winners of the pie cook-off  and the chili cook-off.
The first place chili winner received a golden ladle and first place pie
winner received a golden pie server (both of which I bought at the
dollar store and spray painted gold) Congrats to the winners!!! =)
The tables each had a sombrero and another Mexican
themed item I purchased at the dollar store.

And just for fun we did a little photo shoot...complete with
mustaches, sombreros, and Mexican blankets!!

If you ever consider doing a chili cook-off...you should always be successful with the
help of these blogs!! I saved a lot of money and time with the tips that I followed.
And with that I say, Adios Amigo/Amiga =)
