The Best Easiest Sugar Cookie Recipe Ever!

Every year while at college my friend's mom would send us her amazing sugar cookies. We would beg for her to send us more. Good thing she only sent them to us on holidays because we would have gained a lot of weight from eating her delish cookies! =) haahaa!! When I graduated she gave me an apron, cookie cutters, and her sugar cookie recipe. Seriously, these cookies are AMAZING. I LOVE LOVE LOVE them. =) I like to make these on holidays now (since I would eat too many of them if I made them on a regular basis). They are really easy. I remember the first time I made them with my niece we doubled the recipe (not a good idea), it didn't all fit in my mixer!!! It was pretty funny. So, now we only make a single batch...which still makes about 3 dozen. =)

Yummy!!! These are SOOOOO good. You can add food
coloring to the frosting if you'd rather not have plain white.

Sugar Cookies
Ingredients:
3 sticks softened butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 3/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tarter

Instructions:
Cream together: softened butter and sugar. Add: eggs and vanilla extract. In separate bowl wisk (instead of sift) together: flour, baking soda, and cream of tarter. Mix all ingredients together and beat well. Divide up dough, flour counter, and roll out to about 1/4 inch thickness. Cut out with cookies cutters of choice. Reuse scraps and new dough until all it used. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes (until edges are slightly brown). Makes approximately 3 dozen. Once cookies are cool frost the backs (yes, I said the backs) of the cookies with the powdered sugar frosting. Decorate with sprinkles while frosting is moist. Leave cookies set overnight to dry before stacking.

Frosting
Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 teaspoon of vanilla (optional)
milk as needed

Instructions:
Mix your powdered sugar and butter together add a little milk at a time. I don't use the vanilla. Mixture should not be lumpy. It should be a creamy texture...not too runny...easy for spreading on the backs of the cookies.

Everyone LOVES these cookies! I even had a lady from my husband's
work order 3 dozen of these cookies from me! So, I hope you enjoy...
maybe you can make them for an upcoming New Year's party!
