My church's teen leaders are hosting these special Tuesday night classes (the duration of 6 weeks) for the girls in the teen group. They are calling it MAPquest...Mad About Purity quest. I mentioned something about it my previous post. I had the privilege of helping plan and decorate for their first meeting (January 31st). It was a lot of fun. The girls had a blast and they were so excited about how "fancy" it all was. Some of their feedback was, 'my favorite thing was how fun and light hearted it was-while still getting the point across.' & 'I didn't feel like someone was preaching at me or shaking a finger in my face...it was just so much fun.' I'm glad that they enjoyed themselves and liked all the work that the ladies and I put into this to making this night happen. =)
One of the other ladies that helped with the decorating had the cutest vintage looking suitcases and this cool looking globe. We are sticking with the travel theme because it's an ongoing quest to stay pure...anywhere life might take you in this world.
Look familiar? =) I only had 5 of the antique glass insulators,
so I borrowed really old mason jars from my brother.
I made all the map buntings and used white tulle that I found at the dollar store...I used three different maps and printed them onto card stock. Once they were all cut out I collated them to make one bunting. You can download them here: Map Bunting
My inspiration for this table set-up came from The Nest is Best. She had created this 'What a Journey, First Birthday' Party. It is darling...so you need to check her out to see what she did. I also pulled some things from this blog Celebrations at Home. Their tablescape is gorgeous!!!
My color scheme inspiration came from Project Wedding. I absolutely LOVE this inspirational shoot they created!!! I'm so glad we chose to use the teal and yellow as our main theme colors. I wanted to make the girls feel more mature with our color choice instead of always defaulting to pink and flowers. I don't know about you, but I'm not that frilly really really girly type girl...sure, I like feminine things, but they don't always have to be pink. I had one girl say she LOVED the teal and that it's always an "in" color. =)
We had chocolate and vanilla cupcakes, chocolate chip cookies, and
chocolate and vanilla mini mousse treats for the girls to enjoy that evening.
We used map wrapping paper as the table runners. We found it at Staples of all places.
This was the card they signed if they chose to do so...they also
were to take it home with them because it was a commitment
between them and God. The card is just meant to be a reminder
to them of their decision. =) The square white plates I found
at the dollar store and the napkins I found at Smarty had a Party
My mom made all the vanilla cupcakes...I was supposed to and forgot and my mom saved the day! =) I decorated them though...I made Wilton's Buttercream Icing if you're wondering and I used tip #1M swirl. The wire stand for the food label is out of the same floral wire that I found at the dollar store. Super easy to make.
I got my cupcake topper inspiration from Paper and Pigtails on Etsy.com.
One of my friends designed the logo for the teen workers to use each year they do this. I think it looks amazing. He does great work. The center of the 'Q' in quest signifies a compass. If you like his designs...you'll probably like his photography check him out at Josh Berg Photography.
Hope you enjoyed this map themed girls night out. =)
Amanda,
ReplyDeleteYour party turned out so cute!
Please note that the What a Journey First Birthday was created by One Stone Events (http://onestoneevents.com/) and I just featured it on my blog :)
Again, great work!
