DIY Sweater Trees

I trust you all had a fantastic holiday season. I admit that Thanksgiving, Christmas, & New Years was a whirlwind of family & friend activities. It was great though. We had so much fun even in the midst of little sleep, much delicious food, & tons of ripped up wrapping paper!! =)

I think that after Christmas is my favorite...only because they have the most fantastic prices on everything! I went a little hog wild with purchases, but you can't blame me....how can I pass up such great sales!!! I've already bought some of my family members Christmas & Birthday presents for this year!! You can call me cheap, but I call it frugal. =) I even bought some really cool Christmas decorations for super inexpensive! I found these sweater trees at Target. They only had two sizes...& I like there to be an odd number when decorating so I'm going to have to make a third one.

The Little Fabric Blog has a really good tutorial on how to make your own sweater Christmas trees (& a twine tree). I like that she sews the sweater instead of just gluing the sweaters to the paper mache cones. You can just hot glue it, but sewing the sweater makes a more finished (& store bought) look to it.

From Family Ever After she does her own pom pom Christmas tree! Love this idea & it's so cute!

Camilla from Family Chic has an excellent tutorial on how to make these adorable trees. They aren't technically sweaters (well, I guess neither was the pom pom tree), but they would definitely compliment the sweater tree (as would the pom pom tree). =P

Over at Sand and Sisal she shows you how she displays her sweater trees. I'm absolutely IN LOVE with mercury glass & displaying one of the sweater vases on a mercury glass pillar candle holder is genius! It adds  a touch of elegance.

She also purchased this ceramic sweater vase from Target and put a sugared cranberry cone on top (which, of course, you can make yourself)! It just pulls everything together! Now I really can't wait till this Christmas! haahaa! Talk about wishing the months away!! =) It will be fun to pull out my sweater trees this year & get creative with them! =)

Anyway, enough about Christmas...since it's over we must keep busy with other projects at hand. =) I'm working on my own Valentines. I like to make them each year for my friends. I hope to put a free download & tutorial up. =) I'm also keeping busy by decorating for a banquet for my church at the end of this month. Next month I'm doing another banquet. In May I'm decorating for a wedding & doing all the flower arrangements. I get a little break & then in September I'm decorating for another wedding! LOVE it!! =) I'm really excited about all of them. =)

Any exciting plans for 2013? Do tell!
