Strasburg Train Ride

A few weeks ago four couples from my Sunday School Class decided to do something different...so we went for a train ride. =) The Strausburg Railroad is about an hour drive from us, so we carpooled. The train ride itself was only $14 per person for a Coach seat (kids were less expensive) & it was about a 45 minute train ride. They had all different options to choose from. They even have special train ride (you can look them up on the website) like: train robbery, eating a meal on the train, mystery dinner, etc. I think we'll have to come back to try some of these other train rides. =)
Everything was kept up very well. They said that most of the sales of the tickets goes towards maintenance.
In line at the ticket station! =) It was a brisk day!
The conductor is coming to punch our tickets.
Me with my hubs. =) <3
Henry & Kim- our group leaders.
Henry & Kim with their clan. =)
Anthony & Michelle...they are going to have a baby soon!! =)
Shalee & Israel =)
The Locomotive is switching ends so he can take us back to the train station.
Got them! =)
It's so beautiful in Lancaster County.
Aren't these kids the cutest?!?!!?
Our whole group minus me. =) Look at all the cool wood work!
There I am. =)
I love the old buildings...the history of the railroad is quite fascinating really. The Strasburg Railroad was founded in 1832. Even President Abraham Lincoln visited the Strasburg station! Pretty neat stuff...& really cool that it's still around.
Another train is coming!
Don't do it, Branson!!!
About a mile down the street is the Strasburg Shoppes
A lot of really adorable vintage type stores in town.
We went to the creamery for lunch & dessert. =)
They have a candy shoppe in the back.
If you come at the right time you actually watch them make the caramel corn or fudge.
Waiting for our yummy food!
All the way in the back they have a little dried goods & souvenir section.
...complete with free samples. =)
Love the candy barrels.
The youngest of us is getting assistance with his ice cream cone. =)
It was a really great day! We had a lot of fun! The kids loved the train ride too! Take a look on the internet at what local things you're able to do...& try something new for a change! Happy hunting!
