Today we had our MOMS meeting. MOMS stands for 'Making Our Moms Special'. I had the the privilege along with my friend to decorate for this particular meeting (we meet once a month). Since tomorrow is Valentine's Day we wanted to do something a little extra special....
Side Note: If you have little ones at home & just need a little break or need to talk to another adult =), I really encourage you to seek out a moms group in your area. It will encourage you, refresh you, & you'll have the opportunity to make new friends all while your child is being cared for in a safe environment.
Anyway, enough of my soap box. =) I'll take you through what we did and where we found everything. We were planning on about 30 people. We had 6 tables with 5 people per table.
This bar area we used for the breakfast buffet. The gold table cloth I found at cvlinens.com. I bought the Glitz Sequin 90"x132" rectangle tablecloth in gold. I LOVE cvlinens. They have some really really nice table linens (& more) for super cheap.
The tassels we found from Target (hanging from top row). I can't find the link for them so, I'm guessing they are seasonal. They are from the Spritz party line though...which is some pretty awesome party decor from Target. Actually, they had A LOT that would have gone perfect with our Kate Spade inspired party!
The black and white striped wrapping paper was from Amazon. Each roll is 24 inches wide x 16 feet long. We were able to cut the wrapping paper in half to use a a runner on each table & use some for the buffet table, drink table AND we had some left over. This was by far the most inexpensive black & white striped wrapping paper at the size I wanted. The quality was really nice too, it was nice and thick.
The 'Eat Cake for Breakfast' picture was found online & just printed to the size we needed and stuck in a Dollar Store frame. The gold foil doily hearts were in the Target dollar section (again seasonal). The 'Happy Valentine's Day' heart in the centers were made by my friend who helped me decorate.
We shopped at a nearby Kate Spade outlet to get some give-aways at a really reasonable price...yeah for sales!!! When we checked out we just asked the cashier if she could give us extra gift bags to use for the centerpieces of our tables! =) The black and white polka dot tissue paper (Spritz party line) I also found at Target....LOVE that place!!! =)
Oh, how I love these table settings!!! =) I found 13" gold charger plates (set of 6) from Save on Crafts...another one of my favorite party places to order from. I wish I would have thought to look for gold chargers after Christmas, because I think I could have gotten them cheaper, but I think this is the cheapest you're going to find them, unless you can find them at the Dollar Store (I looked with no luck).
The black and white polka dot dinner plates (pack of 8) where from Oriental Trading. They also have a ton of black and white, gold, & hot pink party supplies that would have gone great with our theme!
The hot pink luncheon napkins (50 ct) were from Amazon. I found a tutorial on Pinterest on how to make a heart shape out of your napkin. Origami Heart Napkins by Salty Pineapple- great pictures with her tutorial! I did find that just folding the napkins wasn't enough, so I ironed each napkin (with low steam) so the napkin would hold shape.
The Glitz-Gold Glitter Plastic Cutlery I found from two places: partysecret.com and Amazon.com. I was originally going to buy them from Party Secret (I bought from them before & had no problems), but they were sold out & didn't know when the plasticware would be back in stock. =( So, I just so happened to stumble across them on Amazon. I believe they are bit more expensive, but WAY cheaper then what you will find somewhere else...trust me I did the research. =) Anyway, great plasticware...very sturdy & they look fantastic!! Now, Target did have a glitter cutlery set in pink available, but I had it in my mind I wanted gold. =)
The 8 1/2" foam heart floral picks (7 per pack) I got at the Dollar Store, but I had to use Mod Podge to cover them with gold glitter, since they only came in colors of light pink or red.
If you have a local market I would suggest going there for your flowers. We were able to go to our local market & get these roses & spider mums at approximately $8 per arrangement. The glass cylinder vases (inside Kate Spade gift bag) were from the Dollar Store.
The bright pink premium plastic wine glasses (18 per box) I was super excited to find at Party City. I was originally going to get the clear plastic wine glasses, but when I saw these and there wasn't much difference in price so I had to get the pink ones! =) I picked out the wine glass because it looks fancier, plus it hold 10 oz. of liquid, where as other fancy glasses only held about 5 oz. of liquid (which equals more trips to refill).
The gold chevron paper straws with hot pink glitter heart with 'love' on it I found on Etsy. The shop owner was super easy to work with & she was able to give me a custom order of 30 straws. Everyone loved the extra attention to detail & I was happy that some of them took some home to their kids to enjoy too! =)
I found these hot pink sequin overlays (fabric) from Ebay. This seller is by far the least expensive. Especially with what I wanted to do with the fabric. I just wanted to make overlays for each table. I searched everywhere for sequin fabric (SUPER expensive), but I found this seller on Ebay & he sells colored fabric with CLEAR sequins...others are selling colored fabric AND colored sequins...so basically you're paying for the color of the sequin. I'm telling you this fabric was exactly was I was hoping for. I just wanted to add a little pizzazz to the tables with some sequin fabric & this did the job. No one even noticed that the sequins were clear.
The friend who helped me brainstorm and decorate for this party asked her mom to cut & hem each overlay. She did such a fantastic job & they turned out perfect!! I purchased 8 yards of fabric and we were able to cover six 4 foot round tables. I'm excited that I'll be able to save and reuse these for future parties.
All-in-all the ladies really had a nice time and loved the decorations! It was so fun planning & decorating with my friend & I loved watching everyone enjoy it. I hope you all have a fantastic Valentine's Day. Make it special- do something for someone else!!
Sounds amazing actually!! MOMS meeting is really a unique idea and now I am thinking to throw a party for moms only where they can feel special. I will try to find best party places Miami so that they can enjoy the party.
