Shopping Thrifty

I have to admit, there was a time when I wouldn't step foot in a thrift store. Maybe it was because my mom would occasionally take my siblings and I shopping as children at consignment shops and I look back at pictures and wonder why my mom would have ever let me wear something so hideous. I try to remind myself it was because I was raised in the late '80s early '90s and pretty much everything then looked hideous. haahaa!

I have now changed my ways and totally see the value in thrift shopping. =) My niece (who is only three and a half years younger then me) is always and forever showing me what brand named clothing she bought for a couple dollars at a thrift store. She finally convinced me to go shopping with her at her favorite consignment shops. I was so excited to find some really awesome deals!!

I found Banana Republic pants, a Charlotte Russe shirt, an Ann Taylor Loft shirt, an Old Navy t-shirt, and etc. I was so thrilled!! I paid $27.40 for everything in this photo....which comes to $3.91 per item!!!! My husband was even excited! =) Basically, because he's thinking of what damage I could have done if I had gone to the actual outlet stores of these brand names that I purchased. haahaa!! =)

We also ran into Goodwill to check out what goodies they may have. I usually only go into Goodwill for things I may need for an upcoming project...but again they do have some neat stuff from time to time. We went down the knick-knack aisle and I found a white ceramic star plate from Pottery Barn!!!!! and...drum roll please......it was only $1.97!!!! If you know me, you know that I LOVE stars and Pottery Barn...so I had to get it. =)

We stopped at a couple other places. After our shopping day was all said and done, what would have normally been a top dollar day and a couple hundred dollars later turned into only spending $68.30!!! I may never go back to paying full price for another item again! (unless I have to) It was such a rewarding shopping trip and I didn't have to reluctantly explain to my husband why I thought it was wise to spent so much money...because I didn't! =)
